Q: Chief. How’d you get that nickname?
A: My nickname growing up was Padge, which comes from my last name: Padgett. For vintage base ball, I wanted something that was more appropriate–so I stole Chief from my father. It was his nickname at work.
Q: What bat do you use?
A: Typically a 34″ Addison, but on occasion I will swing a Corn Dog. Both are from Smacker Bats.
Q: What positions do you play?
A: I have played at third sack, behind the dish, and out in the garden. Doesn’t matter to me, as long as I’m playing.
Q: What’s your favorite moment from last season?
A: I’m not sure I can pick out just one. I enjoyed the entire season as it was a distraction from work and a great way for me to spend time with my family. I think they enjoyed the season just as much as I did.
Q: What are you looking forward to most this season?
A: The fellowship with my fellow Scouts and other ballists, but mainly just getting to play ball. To steal a line from the Babe, ‘Baseball was, is, and always will be, to me, the best game in the world.’
